Private Duty Nursing - Registered Nurse (RN)

About this role
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments.
- Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized plans of care.
- Provide skilled nursing services, including medication administration, treatments, wound care, and other services within the RN's scope of practice.
- Monitor clients' conditions and promptly report significant changes to physicians, the Director of Nursing, and other appropriate members of the care team.
- Document assessments, interventions, progress, and other nursing services accurately and in a timely manner.
- Supervise and provide guidance to LPNs, home health aides, and other assigned staff as appropriate.
- Conduct required supervisory and reassessment visits.
- Educate clients, families, and caregivers regarding medications, disease management, treatments, safety, and care needs.
- Coordinate care with physicians, families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.
- Promote infection prevention, client safety, and quality of care.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, staff education, and agency training initiatives.
- Maintain compliance with Virginia regulations, applicable standards, scope of practice, and agency policies.
Qualifications
- Current, unrestricted Virginia Registered Nurse (RN) license or valid Compact RN license.
- Minimum 1 year of nursing experience; home health, home care, community health, or private duty nursing experience preferred.
- Strong assessment, clinical judgment, communication, and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and confidently in a client's home.
- Dependable, compassionate, and professional approach to client care.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, caregivers, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Knowledge of home care regulations and nursing standards preferred.
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required within agency guidelines.
- Experienced with G-tube and Trach.
