About this role
- Provide assistance with personal care, including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living such as eating, ambulation, and exercise.
- Perform simple procedures as instructed and supervised by an RN or LPN.
- Take and record vital signs, weight, intake/output, and other observations as directed.
- Maintain a safe, clean environment for the client, including light housekeeping tasks related to client care.
- Prepare simple meals and assist with feeding if required.
- Observe client’s physical, mental, and emotional status and promptly report changes.
- Document services provided and client response accurately and timely.
- Follow infection control procedures, including universal precautions and safe handling of equipment and supplies.
- Respect client rights, confidentiality, and dignity at all times.
Qualifications
- Must meet Virginia Department of Health training and competency requirements for aides.
- Current certification as a Home Health Aide or completion of an approved Personal Care Aide program.
- Successful completion of agency competency evaluation.
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.
- Physical ability to assist with client mobility and perform care tasks.
- Strong communication, observation, and interpersonal skills.
